Introduction

The Company (hearing care provider) and the Hearing Check Licensor (Spinach Effect Solutions Pty Ltd) each recognise that your privacy is very important to you and that you must have the right to control your personal information. We know that providing personal information is an act of trust and we take that seriously.

Unless you give us explicit consent to act otherwise, the following policy will govern how we each promise to handle your personal information and safeguard your privacy.

This Policy sets out our personal information management practices. Throughout this Policy, we refer to your ‘personal information’ which means information which identifies you as an individual or from which you can be reasonably identified. Your name, address and telephone number are examples of personal information. ‘Health information’ is a type of sensitive personal information that relates to your health.

 

Who has access to your information?

Limited access to your data will be granted to the following parties:

  • Company (Hearing Care Provider)
  • Spinach Effect Solutions (Hearing Check Licensor), host data and ensure best-practice: data encryption, data protection, and data integrity. You will never be contacted by the Licensor.

Best practice data security.

We treat all Personal Information as Personal Health Information, requiring the higher standard of data security. Your information is protected using 256-bit encryption and Account Partitions on dedicated servers held within a Tier 1 web hosting company. Servers are backed up continuously and are firewall protected. The solution is compliant with regulations of countries around the world, including GDPR (Europe), HiPAA (USA), and the Privacy Act 1988 (Australia).

What data is collected?

The Company and the Licensor each warrant to take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information, including encryption of data, keep on our servers and on the Touchscreen Hearing Check devices (iPads). Data includes: contact information; hearing check results; age; gender; services requested by you.

Your data is used for customer service purposes

At the end of your hearing check, you will be emailed a Hearing Report, including results, interpretation and recommendations. Therefore, we require your email address.

If results indicate that you have a significant hearing loss, you can seek further help to arrange a consultation with the Company at a location near you. While there is no obligation to accept this offer at the end of your hearing check, the Company requires email and phone numbers to fulfil the requests of users.

When contacted via phone or email, you can make further arrangements for hearing services and solutions on your own terms.

The Company may use this information for the purposes of: managing your hear care treatment; providing products and services; marketing new products and services to you; keeping in contact with you; responding to your queries and requests; and to ensure we continually improve our services to you.

Your information will be held in a secure central off-site location.

 

What information will we collect?

At any time, you can request details of what information is held on you and decide how you want that data treated. Email requests to the service@hearingcheck.net. Please include your:

  • Name of Company (hearing care organisation)
  • Full Name
  • Email
  • Date Tested (approx)

On request, we will be happy to respond to any request for you:

  • To be removed from our databases;
  • Request no further marketing;
  • Request copies of all personal information held on you in hardcopy or PDF form.

Acceptance

Your acceptance of the terms of the Privacy Policy and the collection and management of information (data) is implied in the completion of your hearing check and completion of any forms within the Hearing Check.
